Why do we do International Tours?

International Tours

The idea of the IALS International Tour was developed in response to frequent questions and requests about how to visit, learn from, be inspired by, and share with some of the leading schools that are connected to universities. Since IALS initiated tours for members in 2015, we have been hosted on the campuses of Columbia University, Bank Street College of Education, Carnegie Mellon University, The University of Pittsburgh, the University of Chicago, The University of Puerto Rico, and the University of Toronto.

We have found that when Lab Schools open their doors in this way, and participants from lab schools around the world attend, the conversations and connections are rich and meaningful. Reports from attendees include comments that the tours are one of the best Professional Development experiences Lab school teachers and administrators have ever had.

Please click here for information about the October 22 to 25th, 2018 tour and contact me if you would like more information about available spaces, our limited travel support funds for international participants, or your involvement.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Elizabeth Morley, Chair of the International Committee of IALS,
Principal Emerita, Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study Laboratory School
Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto

Visiting Scholar, Kobe Shinwa Women’s University, Kobe, Japan.
